Free Intro Salsa Class

Intro to Salsa is a 30 minute small group private class. Get to meet our instructors while learning the basics of Salsa.

Salsa Levels

Level 1
Absolute Beginners

From 0 - 8 weeks of Salsa Class

This Level is geared for students who are learning the basic steps, rhythm, and timing. You get an introduction to Salsa steps and simple partner-work. It’s a lot of FUN!

Level 2
Beginners

From 4 to 16 weeks of Salsa Class

This Level is geared for students who have already learned the basic steps as an absolute beginner student. This is a continuation from the absolute beginners level. The focus is mainly on partner work and you get to learn,practice, practice and practice the most important salsa foundation steps.

Level 3
Pre-Improvers

From 16-24 weeks experience of Salsa Class

You should have completed at least 12-16 hours to attend this Level.The series focuses on the fundamentals of salsa: basics, patterns, footwork, turns and technique, which includes proper posture, balance, and upper/lower body coordination. This lays the groundwork for a solid foundation in salsa. We will focus mainly on fundamentals of partner work. All advanced moves are an extension of the basic. If a student lacks fundamentals he will just learn more and more combinations technically incorrectly and will not progress as a dancer. Therefore, this is the most important class for anyone wishing to learn Salsa. Mastery of the basics will give you the skills and confidence needed to develop into a good dancer. Believe me; it will change your life.

Level 4
Improvers

From 12 lessons – 8 months experience of Salsa Class

This level focuses on more complex partner work techniques. It prepares you for the Intermediate level.

Frequently Asked Questions?

Do I need a partner to attend your courses?

No, most people come to our courses alone. We change partners during class so everyone will dance with each other. It’s social, nice and you will quickly get to know your fellow students.

What clothes should I wear?

We recommend comfortable clothes that you can breathe and move in. Many use normal training gear.

Do I need dance shoes to start dancing?

No, good dance shoes are a good investment after a while if you are dancing a lot. But it’s not necessary in the very beginning. Make sure the shoes you use are comfortable, light, sit well on your foot and have a little slippery soles. We don’t recommend sneakers.

Do I need to pre sign-up for Free Class?

We prefer if you do. It is not mandatory but due to Covid Measures it is important to sign-up so we can guarantee your spot.

Do I need dance experience to join your courses?

No, no experience or dance background is required to join our courses. We have every level from Absolute Beginners . Many of our students started dancing with us without having danced before in their lives. 

What age groups take your courses?

We have every age from 17 to 65 years. Most people are between 25 to 50 years old. Dance has no age limit, at Cortés everyone is welcome!

Can I dance with my wife/husband/partner the whole course?

No, we change partners all the time throughout the class, because is important for us to cultivate a community environment. We offer personalised alternative for you and your significant other, like private lessons and some workshops.
